about
Sleeping under canvas in the sub-zero Rocky Mountains of Canada,
'’Hypothermia’ sees the Melbourne based musician reflect upon a glacial night where he sought warmth in song writing. “I was so cold I thought I might die, so I had to sit up and try to get my blood flowing any way I could in an attempt to ensure my limbs didn’t fall off." After being pushed to his limits, the result is a song which is a personal account that’s layered with warm, uplifting tones, quirky instrumentation and a dizzying bridge, matched alongside Fletcher Gull's unique vocal qualities to deliver an audacious indie-pop song.
lyrics
Fall in love with precious snow
The more I see the less I know
The most beautiful night of my life to be lonely
And I’ve been around
White sheets of city streets that I pace
God should weep in envy for my feet leave the only trace
I was down, I’ve been beat out of life, but tonight was made for me
And I’ve come around
Cause Eskimos in polar bear skin clothes couldn’t understand
Hypothermia is setting in
and you’re scared cause that you can’t hide from your own skin
Ah you’re scared cause you can’t hide
Now the stars might fall right down on me
In my crystal hands may they rest in peace
Out to sea with me out to sea I dream
A giant Starfish will pull me down
Cause Eskimos in polar bear skin clothes couldn’t understand
Hypothermia is setting in
and you’re scared you can’t hide from your own skin
Ah you’re scared you can’t hide
And all I feel, I’d never trust to be real in this brand new light
All across the board the switches flicker wild,
and you’re scared you can’t hide from your own mind
Ah, cause Eskimos in polar bear skin clothes couldn’t understand
Oh hypothermia is seeping through every crack and flooding in
And you’re scared cause you can’t hide from your own skin
Ah you’re scared cause you can’t hide
